Chris joined Tritonia in 2024 as scientific researcher specialising in side scan sonar and habitat mapping. Chris gained his BSc (Hons) in Marine Biology and oceanography at Bangor University where he then continued his studies gaining his MSc in Applied Marine Geoscience in 2016. He then went on to undertake and is currently finishing a PhD at the University of Manitoba looking at the coastal oceanography of eelgrass bed habitats in the seasonally ice-covered east coast of James Bay (southern part of Hudson Bay). Part of the PhD was using a side scan sonar mounted on an AUV to map and determine density of seagrass beds in a shallow water environment. Chris most recently (2022-2023) worked at Flanders Marine institute in Ostend, Belgium where he continued to work with side scan sonar, habitat mapping and other marine robotic instruments. Chris has been a recreation diver since 2011 and gained his PADI dive master in 2016.
